Windsurfing & Kitesurfing

Cervantes is an internationally renowned windsurfing and kitesurfing hotspot (the most popular beaches are Hangover Bay and Thirsty Point).
Cervantes is host to the ‘Cervantes Speed’ windsurfing event where competitor speeds are tested by radar and local, national and international windsurfers match their skills in a marathon.

RAC Cervantes Holiday Park is a proud provider of caravan sites, camping sites and accommodation for competitors, photographers/videographers and spectators attending this exciting event.

Beach Activities

Have a picnic, build a sandcastle, watch a sunset, play a game of beach cricket, have a refreshing dip, or simply relax and watch the day go by at any of our region’s stunning local beaches.

Enjoy the designated safe beach swimming area in Ronsard Bay directly out the front of RAC Cervantes Holiday Park (safe swimming for families and access to the children’s playground and public toilet facilities), or visit any of the beaches along our spectacular coastline. *Please remember to read beach safety signage and avoid dangerous rocks, reefs, waves, currents, tides and rips in some areas.

Snorkelling, Diving and Kayaking

The local waters off Cervantes contain a mix of temperate and tropical waters and marine life, courtesy of the Leeuwin Current – perfect for water-based exploration activities.

The nearby Jurien Marine Park will also delight snorkelers, divers and kayakers with colourful corals, extensive limestone reefs and cheeky Australian sea lions.

Fishing & Boating

Boats can be launched directly off the beach in Cervantes, however you may need a 4×4 in the sand (although it is very hard). For larger boats, boat ramp facilities are located in nearby Jurien Bay. Fishing is a favourite past-time of many locals and visitors to Cervantes. Cervantes is also known for its delicious crayfish which can be purchased from local merchants and restaurants.

*Please note: a Recreational Fishing Licence is required across Western Australia for the following: Rock Lobster; Abalone; Marron; South-West Freshwater Angling; Net Fishing; and Boat Fishing (selected species). For detailed information about Recreational Fishing Licenses on Australia’s Coral Coast, visit the Department of Fisheries website.

4-Wheel Driving

Cervantes and the surrounding region is a four-wheel driver’s paradise with a variety of 4×4 tracks and trails for beginners to experienced professionals. Drive along the beach to a secluded fishing or swimming spot; get off-road and travel through rugged terrain and bushland; experience extreme 4-wheel driving in magnificent sand dunes; or explore our local national parks and view local wildlife, birdlife, picturesque scenery and wildflowers off the beaten track.

Bushwalking and Bike Riding

Cervantes, nearby National Parks and surrounding areas have a range of scenic walking and bike riding tracks and trails (check our local guides and maps). Enjoy the natural flora and fauna walking or riding along the beaches, coastline and National Parks.

A seaside trail starts right out the front of our Park’s Seashells Café and heads north and south along the beach. Viewing platforms are located at several points along the track (don’t forget your camera).

A favourite walk trial is the bush and beach walk-trail that connects the lookouts between Thirsty Point and Hansen Bay.

Bird Watching

Cervantes and our surrounding areas are home to a variety of native and rare birds (have a look at the water tanks at the end of Aragon St).

Birds that can be regularly spotted out and about include Emus, Kookaburras, Wedge-tailed Eagles (Australia’s largest living bird of prey) and large colonies of sea birds that congregate along the coast and islands.

Sandboarding in the spectacular sand dunes is a favourite past time in the dunes south of Cervantes.
