Things to see and do at Monkey Mia

Feed the dolphins

This is a no-brainer. Make sure you check out one of the three dolphin feeding sessions held daily. The sessions are free and if you’re lucky we may even ask you to help with the feeding.

Aboriginal cultural walk

Discover the history of the Gathaagudu region and the traditional custodians of the land, the Malgana people, on this eye-opening walk. You will learn about bush tucker and medicine, and discover how the Malgana have survived and thrived in this part of Western Australia for thousands of years.

Camel ride

Saddle up and treat yourself to a ride down the beach on one of our gentle giants. Led by our team of camel whisperers, these rides cater to visitors of all ages and abilities.

Star gazing

Marvel at the wonder of the wide-open sky from our beautiful beach. Our clear nights and temperate climate are perfect for stargazing. Come along and explore stars, planets, galaxies and constellations

Set sail aboard The Shotover

Take a trip on our famous catamaran, The Shotover. Experience dolphins, dugongs, turtles and more in the crystal clear waters off Monkey Mia.

Blue Lagoon Pearls

Why not visit a working pearl farm during your trip to Monkey Mia? The Red Bluff Pearl Farm is the only one in WA open to tourists and offers a truly unique experience. Come down to the jetty and jump aboard for the 8-minute ride across Red Cliff Bay. While you’re there you could even treat yourself, or someone special, to some jewellery.

Explore the bay

Shark Bay is Australia’s largest. Boasting over 1000 kilometres of pristine beach and calm, inviting waters, a day at the beach is a Monkey Mia must do.

Take a walk along the cliff to our blowholes. Watch the water blast up through the rocks a full 100 metres above sea level.

Ocean Park Aquarium

Enjoy a fun day out at Shark Bay’s Ocean Park Aquarium. The eco-friendly attraction is home to turtles, sea snakes, stingrays and all sorts of sea creatures. Adventurous types can take in a dive experience or a 4WD tour while Ocean Restaurant is a good option for those seeking a relaxing meal overlooking the water.
