If you’re visiting Broome in August or September, don’t miss the chance to experience Shinju Matsuri Festival – the iconic Festival of the Pearl. Celebrating Broome’s rich pearling heritage and diverse cultural history since 1970, this vibrant annual event is a highlight of the region. This year’s festival is running from 23 August to 7 September 2025, featuring a lively program of free and ticketed events suitable for all ages and interests.
Festival highlights include the colourful and energetic float parade through the streets of Chinatown, the family fun day at The Roey, the mesmerising Floating Lantern event at Gantheaume Beach, and the Sunset Long Table Dinner on Cable Beach, an unforgettable dining experience in one of Broome’s most iconic locations.
The festival hub is located at Town Beach, where you’ll find daily activities for all ages, such as live local performances, wellness classes, cultural displays, interactive art and craft workshops and special film screenings throughout the two-week celebration.
