E-Rideable Ban FAQs - RAC Parks & Resorts

The following FAQs outline recent changes to the rules regarding e-rideables at our holiday parks and resorts. These changes follow a ban on such devices, introduced to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.

Due to safety concerns, we have introduced ban as of 15 December 2025 on recreational e-rideables within the boundaries or our parks and resorts, this includes eScooters, eSkateboards and eBikes. This policy does not apply to mobility scooters or motorised wheelchairs.

We have heard the feedback of many guests who have had unpleasant experiences involving disruption to the holiday experience, resulting from e-rideables. This decision aims to improve your overall experience and create safer shared pathways and roads.

Why is RAC doing this?
We are initially implementing a ban at all of our holiday parks and resorts to help ensure a safer and more enjoyable environment for all guests during their stay.

In recent times, we’ve received increasing feedback from both guests and team members regarding unsafe use of e-rideables — including incidents where riders have not followed road rules or have created unsafe conditions, particularly for families with young children.

This has become a challenge for our team to manage consistently on-site. With a number of other holiday parks across WA having already introduced similar bans and seen overwhelmingly positive guest feedback, we are taking this opportunity to do the same approach.

Are all e-rideable types banned?
The ban applies to all recreational e-rideables, including:

·       Electric scooters (eScooters)

·       Electric skateboards (eSkateboards)

·       Electric bicycles (eBikes)

Mobility aids such as motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters are not included in the ban and remain welcome within the park.

Where can I use my e-rideable?
We recognise that e-rideables offer a range of benefits — from supporting sustainable travel to reducing traffic and encouraging outdoor exploration. While the use of e-rideables is restricted within our park/resort grounds, they remain a fantastic way to discover the beautiful surrounds of the local area.

RAC Busselton Holiday Park

Abbey Beach – There is a pathway just over the road from RAC Busselton Holiday Park which will take you down to the beach, There are also a range of cycle and pathways around town to help you explore the local area.

RAC Cable Beach Holiday Park

Cable Beach and Broome – The towns of Cable Beach and Broome are both e-rideable friendly so exploring the town is a great way to enjoy your e-rideable. Please ensure you comply with WA road rules and local council regulations and do not let children ride alone.

RAC Cervantes Holiday Park

Hansen Bay Lookout – Just one kilometre from RAC Cervantes Holiday Park, this short ride offers stunning panoramic views of Hansen Bay, the offshore islands, Lake Thetis, and the Cervantes townsite.

Lake Thetis Stromatolites – Approximately one kilometre further along Hansen Bay Lookout Road, this natural wonder features rare living marine stromatolites. The scenic ride there is well worth the visit.

RAC Esperance Holiday Park

Esperance Town – The town of Esperance offers a range of cycle paths and also offers e-rideable rentals around town. These cycle paths are great ways to get around on your e-rideable and visit various areas of interest.

RAC Exmouth Cape Holiday Park

Town beach – There is a footpath from the park to Town Beach where many events and activities are held by the shire.

Exmouth Township – Exmouth is e-ridable friendly, so exploring the town is a great opportunity for those with e-rideables. Please ensure you comply with WA road rules and local council regulations and do not let children ride alone.

RAC Karri Valley Resort

Commuting between the lake and campground – You are welcome to use your e-rideable to commute between the resort lakeside and the campground entry, however you must dismount when you enter the main resort area or when you reach the campground entry gate.

RAC Margaret River Nature Park

Wooditjup National Park – For members and guests with e-bikes we have access from our park right onto the Wooditjup national park bike trails. We do not recommend these trails for e-scooters or e-boards due to their offroad nature.

RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort

Due to our remote location, there are limited locations where e-rideables would be suitable.

RAC Ningaloo Reef Resort

Coral Bay – Coral Bay has a range of footpaths and quiet roads for guests to use, Please ensure you comply with WA road rules and local council regulations and do not let children ride alone.

We encourage you to take advantage of these local highlights while enjoying the benefits of your e-rideable outside of our holiday parks and resorts. Please do, however ensure you consider the risks of riding on main roads and public pathways, and never allow a child to ride alone.

What happens if someone is seen using an e-rideable in the park?
Our team will politely remind guests of the ban and ask them to dismount and walk their e-rideable out of the parks and resorts boundaries. We ask all guests to help maintain a safe and relaxed environment by respecting the new policy. Just like with any of our other rules, guests who refuse the follow them will be asked to leave.

Can I walk my e-rideable through the property to access local paths?
Yes — guests are welcome to walk their e-rideable (with power off) to the boundary or exit point. Once outside the property, you’re free to ride in accordance with WA road rules and local council regulations.

Are bikes or scooters without motors allowed?
Yes — traditional pedal-powered bicycles and push scooters are still welcome. We do ask all riders to travel at a safe speed and be mindful of pedestrians and young children. Note that all bikes, including pedal bikes and manual scooters are not permitted in shared spaces such as kitchens, recreation rooms or within the pool area.

If this doesn’t suit my travel plans, can I cancel?
Yes — you are welcome to cancel your booking up to 72 hours prior to arrival without penalties. Please reach out to our team for assistance with this. The best way to do this is replying to your booking confirmation email.

How can I share feedback about the ban?
We understand this ban will not be for everyone, and feedback is always welcomed. Whilst we have no specific feedback form for this ban, we welcome your feedback via our corporate feedback process here Feedback | RAC WA
