Just a five-minute drive south of the town centre you’ll discover A Maze’n, one of Australia’s largest hedge mazes. Stretching over 5,000 m2 and towering over 3 metres high, this maze is an exciting challenge for all ages.
Once you’ve found your way out, there’s more fun to be had with an 18-hole mini golf course, outdoor games, puzzles and over five hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens to explore.
Refuel with a bite to eat or coffee from the onsite café, or take advantage of the shaded gas barbeques and picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds.
If this one maze isn’t enough of a challenge, you’ll also find an adventurous timber maze at Yallingup Maze & Mini Golf.

Chocolate lovers are in for a treat, with Margaret River home to not just one, but three chocolatiers, in the region.
The Margaret River Chocolate Factory, which started in a humble tin shed on a dairy farm in 1999, now has multiple locations across Perth. However, a visit to the original Metricup location is a must to sample their wide range of chocolatey delights. Besides from all the classic favourites, you’ll also find rocky road, chocolate-coated nuts, truffles and even quokka-shaped chocolates.
The site also has a café where you can enjoy coffee and other beverages plus chocolate fondue, various cakes, ice cream and a selection of savoury light lunch options. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, adjacent to a grassy area where kids can stretch their legs.
Further towards Yallingup, you’ll find Gabriel Chocolate, which specialises in single-origin chocolate bars showcased in their custom-built chocolate gallery. There’s also the Yallingup Chocolate Co., a small family-run business that shares a space with Commonage Coffee Co., rounding out the perfect stop for chocolate and coffee lovers.

The Margaret River Region boasts over 100 kilometres of diverse coastline, featuring rugged cliffs, sheltered rock pools, and expansive white sand beaches. While it’s impossible to see it all in one visit, here are a few standout spots that are well worth your time.
Near Yallingup, the wooden boardwalk at Canal Rocks offers a unique perspective as it crosses a natural channel cut through the rock formations. On calm days, the water here is crystal clear; on stormy days, watch on as waves crash dramatically against the bridge and rocks.
Just five minutes south of Canal Rocks, you’ll find Injidup Natural Spa. True to its name, this rock pool creates a natural spa-like effect, with ocean waves flowing through a gap in the rocks.
Closer to town, the Margaret River Mouth Viewpoint is a must-see to admire where the river meets the sea. In winter, water flows freely between them, but during other times of the year, they are divided by a sandbank.
At these coastal locations, it’s important to remain cautious as conditions can quickly become rough or change unexpectedly.

The Margaret River Farmers Market is a vibrant hub of activity every Saturday morning. This bustling outdoor market boasts a wide array of stalls – you’ll find everything from fresh produce and artisanal goods to food trucks, freshly baked bread and coffee vans, plus a welcoming community atmosphere.
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the market or stock up on local produce for dinner. Enjoy the live music while relaxing or enjoying your tasty purchases at the undercover seating area.
Parking is ample, though it tends to fill up quickly, especially during summer and school holidays. Arriving before 9 am is best to guarantee a spot. Alternatively, consider renting a mountain bike from Reception and cycling along the Wadandi track to the markets.

A scattering of limestone caves lie beneath the Margaret River region, with six show caves open to the public, each with their own unique and intriguing features.
Stretching from north to south, you can visit Ngilgi Cave near Yallingup, Calgardup, Mammoth, Lake, and Giants Cave near Margaret River and Jewel Cave near Augusta.
Some caves offer guided tours, while others are run as self-guided or audio-guided explorations.
It’s hard to pick just one to visit, but if we had to pick a favourite it would include Mammoth Cave, with its ancient fossils and peaceful bush walk, and Lake Cave, famous for its suspended table formation – a flowstone sculpture hanging over a glassy subterranean lake.
Bookings are optional but recommended during peak periods, including school holidays and long weekends. Book tickets online for Ngilgi, Jewel, Lake, and Mammoth Caves, or purchase at the entrance upon arrival, subject to availability.

Margaret River is home to several fantastic family-friendly brewery restaurants, ideal for a relaxed lunch outing. These venues feature extensive outside seating and play areas, perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
Beer Farm is found just 15 minutes north of RAC Margaret River Nature Park. Set in a converted rustic barn that was once a dairy farm, you’ll pass through the old milking stalls at the entrance. The menu features hearty classics, like juicy burgers, smoked beef brisket and maple-glazed chicken wings. There are also gourmet vegetarian options to keep everyone happy. During summer, the kids will love the giant slip-and-slide set up on the hillside.
The Brewhouse Margaret River is a local favourite, a quick 5-minute drive from RAC Margaret River Nature Park. The menu includes pub classics, tasty pizzas and Asian-influenced dishes. Enjoy the views from the outdoor seating overlooking the lawn and play area, or opt for a spot on the spacious undercover patio.
CBCO Brewing offers one of the largest playgrounds in the area, set on their expansive grounds with relaxed outdoor seating. While you sample a tasting paddle and dine on their range of pizzas, the kids will be kept entertained by the outdoor games, like cornhole, set up on the grass. You can even try your hand at hitting golf balls into the dam at the Short Iron Range.

The Cape to Cape is a spectacular 130-kilometre coastal trail that spans from Cape Naturaliste near Yallingup to Cape Leeuwin in Augusta. Known for its unparalleled natural scenery, the trail features everything from sweeping coastal cliffs to majestic Karri forests, making it a premier hiking trail in Western Australia.
For a manageable yet scenic hike, consider tackling the following sections that are the closest to RAC Margaret River Nature Park. The Contos Cliff to Bob’s Hollow hike is about 5 km return and offers panoramic views of the coast from the elevated vantage point on the trail above Contos Beach. Closer to town, the Margaret River Mouth to Kilcarnup Beach trail is about 6 km return and offers hikers the chance to explore Cape Mentelle (not to be confused with the winery of the same name) and the 4WD-only beach that awaits.
Hiking the Cape to Cape is enjoyable all year round, but the best times of the year are autumn and spring. During spring, keep an eye out for native wildflowers and breaching whales in the distance. Regardless of the season, it’s important to carry sun protection and plenty of water. Be prepared for some uneven and steep terrain, requiring a moderate level of fitness.

Boranup Forest is the best place in Margaret River to wander among towering karri trees, the tallest tree species in Western Australia.
Head to the scenic viewpoint on Caves Rd, located about a kilometre past the Giants Cave. Pull over here to safely park off the road and take a short stroll through the section of forest on the opposite side of the road.
Explore through the network of trails winding through the karri trees, lush ferns and dappled sunlight – perfect for taking some picturesque snaps. The popular Pies and Ale restaurant is just down the road from the viewpoint, serving a range of gourmet pies accompanied by tasty sides like mushy green peas and crispy hash browns.
Take a detour off Caves Road along Boranup Drive for a scenic drive through the forest. This peaceful gravel road is suitable for 2WD vehicles as it winds through the dense karri forest. While in the area, combine your trip with a visit to one of the nearby caves, such as Lake Cave or Giants Cave.

You’re spoilt for choice when staying at RAC Margaret River Nature Park, with numerous bushwalking and mountain biking trails right on your doorstep. You can reach Wooditjup National Park, with its many hiking and cycling trails, from the back of the property.
The 3.2 km Chimney Trail loop is perfect for a gentle, scenic nature walk through dense karri, marri and jarrah forest. Alternatively, venture south along the River Walk trail starting from the intersection of Carters and McQueen Rd. You’ll cross a small weir and walk along the river before popping out onto the main street of Margaret River. Treat yourself after the walk with a visit to the famed Margaret River Bakery, just across the street.
For thrill-seekers, Wooditjup National Park is home to a labyrinth of mountain bike trails catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced riders with jumps and technical features. For a more leisurely ride, the nearby Wadandi track offers a scenic and flat ride through the forest, connecting the nearby towns of Cowaramup and Witchcliffe to Margaret River. Stop by reception to grab a trail map, and enquire about mountain bike hire.
