Coral Bay turtle season

Turtles, turtles and more turtles! The nesting season for turtles in and around Coral Bay is late October to March, but you can see them all year round.

During nesting season, you’ll likely see hatchlings emerge from the white sand, flapping and flipping as they scurry towards the water.

Or you might enjoy watching mature turtles swimming in the lagoons. Species that call this area home include loggerhead, hawksbill and flatback turtles.

It’s important to respect the turtles and their environment. Visitors should be careful not to touch, disturb or interfere with the turtles and to stand very still if hatchlings are present.

After hatching, baby turtles are drawn to the light of the ocean, so avoid using any artificial light near them.

For more information, visit Australia’s Coral Coast website.

Or indulge yourself in some turtle-viewing via a glass bottom boat tour.
