Q Can I go fishing in Monkey Mia?
A
Shark Bay stands out as a premier fishing destination in Western Australia due to its vast expanse of seagrass meadows spanning over 4800 square kilometers. These rich habitats attract a diverse array of fish species such as mulloway, trevally, bream, whiting, and the renowned pink snapper that the region is celebrated for.
Whether you’re planning a leisurely afternoon of beach fishing or a full day out on the boat, understanding the essential dos and don’ts of fishing in Shark Bay is crucial. These tips will not only enhance your fishing experience but also ensure compliance with local Fisheries and Marine Officers, ensuring your focus remains on catching fish, not incurring fines.
Uncontrolled stormwater drainage from the Resort has the potential to negatively impact marine species as it can transport rubbish, sediment and nutrients into the marine environment. Stormwater management drains have been installed on the property to contain stormwater and prevent it from flowing to the foreshore area and into the marine environment.
